Todd ran Cross Country and Track in College and has always been in amazing shape. However, once he started medical school, his running days started to dwindle. He decided he needed to start making time for running again so he signed up for a few races. First race was the
Monument 10K which he ran with me so that was no big deal for him. Next race was the North Face Endurance 50K Challenge. Yes, 50K which is around 31 miles! When he signed up, he had a few weeks to train for it. But then school started getting more busy, research began, finals week came, and the 100 degree Virginia weather with humidity is not fun to run in. So he ended up doing a few small runs and one 15 mile run the week before the race. Great training right?!
On June 4th, we headed up to Georgetown so he could run in his 50K race. With the lack of training, he still did awesome!! He completed it in 5 hours and 10 minutes. He said he felt good during the first half of the race and was in 3rd place at the half way point. Then the last 15 miles hurt. However, he ended up placing 8th in his age division and 33rd overall.
