Real Salt Lake

Kayli found out that Real Salt Lake was coming to play DC United so of course we had to go. To make it even better, it was college night so tickets were half price.  We put together pseudo die hard soccer fans that likely included as many football(american) fans as soccer fans.  This made it more exciting, because it was Erik, Kurt, and Benson's first professional soccer game.  

Upon arrival to the stadium we were stoked to find out our tickets were on the front row.  Unfortunately we soon realized that the front row was not an ideal place to view the game.  The picture below is one of the few times that the security guard in the yellow jacket wasn't standing directly in front of us like some sort of statue.  You would have thought the guy was in the CIA not stadium security, but he provided some good entertainment during the lulls in the game.  However, at half time we had grown tired of Mr. Stone Cold and decided to head up to the 20th row where we had a great view of the game.  Real put on a better show in the second half after going down 4-0 in the first.  All in all it was a ton of fun to get out of Richmond and go watch some soccer, which Kayli and I love.  And we got to eat at Cafe Rio which makes going to DC even better.

Snowshoe

We ventured to West Virginia again, this time to go mountain biking!  One of Todd's favorite things to do is mountain bike.  Since there aren't any mountains in Richmond, he has wanted to go to Snowshoe since we moved here.  Snowshoe is a ski resort and in the summer they open the lifts for downhill mountain biking.  We decided to bike on Friday (since it's so much cheaper on the week days).  They had some really fun trials and Todd was in heaven.  I joined him for half a day and had a blast!

Friday evening we went out to dinner and explored the shops at the resort.  Saturday morning we woke up to sore bodies especially our hands so we went on a run/hike to a fire tower that gives you awesome views of the area. 

We love the mountain and miss having them in our backyard! 

Seneca Rocks

We decided to go on a little road trip last weekend and ended up in West Virginia to climb at Seneca Rocks.  This place is beautiful and has tons of routes to climb.  

This climbing trip definitely put me out of my comfort zone at times but I'm glad we did it! Most of the routes are trad climbing and this is something I had never done before.  Todd led the route and was a great teacher.  And we made it to the top!! The best thing about climbing is being able to repel down! It took us 2 hours to climb up and about 5 minutes to repel down the 250 ft cliff.  Can't beat that right!

That is where we were! 

On the way home, we saw a county fair going on so we decided to stop.  We enjoyed some carnival rides and even tried our first deep fried twinkie!

Weekend in DC

A few weekends ago we headed up to DC with the Davis' and Huffman's.  We were lucky enough to stay at Jessie's parents house since they were out of town.  We started the trip out by going to the temple and then stopping at the Eastern Market for crab cakes (I opted for a BBQ sandwich instead)! 

It was our anniversary that weekend so the plan was for Todd and I to sneak away that night and to go to dinner.  However, we ended up having some cars trouble so we joined our friends at Cafe Rio and had a great time!
